Green sex is certifably orgasmic

Romance that is healthy, eco-conscious AND sexy is the way of the future, in case you hadn’t all heard it before and here at bonk – we love it. “Eco-Sex”, “Green Romance”, call it what you will but experts are agreeing – the ultra chic thing to romance your partner is in ways that are sexy, meaningful and eco-friendly.

If eco-romance is new to you, I know what you are thinking. Really? We already reuse, recycle and reduce outside of the bedroom. What can possibly be done to sex to make it greener and safer without compromising pleasure and performance?

The answer is plenty. Eco-sexy loving is the newest trend in intimate encounters, and I’ve spent the last few years sharing my passion for all things that are green and sexy with anyone who will listen. This is the paradigm shift waiting to happen, and it’s time to find your e-spot!

Green Sex is Good for You

For starters, nothing suggests ‘I love you’ (or lust you) quite like a heartfelt bout of nookie. Physical intimacy is a great purveyor of body heat and shared energy, and between partners, rarely costs money (unless you count what was spent on preparing a feast in the kitchen and dessert thereafter).

A healthy sex life is also good for you. Love nourishes the body, mind and soul, and in case you need a reminder of the specific benefits of regular sex, remember that it can:

  • Strengthen your immune system
  • Improve your heart health
  • Reduce chronic pain
  • Lower your incidence of depression and decrease anxiety

Playing Responsibly is Sexier and Healthier

How we play and enhance lovemaking says a lot about our convictions and passions. There’s no distinction between needs, desires or lifestyle and there’s many ways to create a sensual, relaxed mood without leaving an ecological mess in your wake.

Whatever you use in the bedroom, from lubricants to condoms to adult toys, do your part to make sure they are made from products that are safe for your body and the earth. Be aware of what you are putting near your nether parts and avoid dangerous liaisons with products that contain potentially harmful ingredients.

Why use sex lube?

Lubricant is the best and most basic sex toy you can have, and not one to be ashamed of! It conquers friction, intensifies sensitivity and eliminates dryness that can lead to soreness. Bonk was created because we recognised the need for a personal lubricant which was certified organic to ensure everyone could easily enjoy a better sex life, and trust that the lube was better for you. Whatever your sexual preferences, gender, age, whether you’re in the hot and heavy throes of a new sexual relationship or delving deeper into an older one, personal lubricant is essential to making the most of these wonderfully physical moments.

It’s not the time to be thinking “hmm, I wonder what’s in that stuff?” So a little bit of homework first will help you choose the right one and allow you to stay in the moment.

Lube helps a quickie to actually be quick, a long sensual session of love making to be smooth, and can help you and your partner avoid any post play soreness especially if you’re having sex multiple times. It’s also good for much more than a quick dab just before intercourse – a little lube can bring intensified pleasure,  help prolong love-making sessions,  make your own masturbation more enjoyable, enhance kinky foreplay and is essential for any kind of anal play or intercourse.

Don’t just believe us –

  • A 2013 study of over 2,000 sexually active women aged between 18 and 68 found that 9 out of 10 women find sex or masturbation more pleasurable, more orgasmic and simply better when using lube.
  • It’s not just for the ladies – lube makes sex more pleasurable for men too. Having a well-lubricated penis not only enhances pleasure but, can make you last longer and prevent damage or abrasion to the delicate tissues of penis.
  • And last but certainly not least, Using the right lube with a condom make sex much safer for all parties.

What’s in a Lube?

Consider lubrication the most common enhancement aid used. The 2014 International Society for Sexual Medicine Survey suggest that over 60% of women will use lubrication at some point in their lovemaking. Lubrication is used more than any other adult item to enhance lovemaking, for pleasure, and because vaginal dryness is super common.

Vaginal lubricants are water-based, oil-based, or silicone-based, and each kind offers pros and cons. However and regardless of brand, some include ingredients that are potentially risky.

“Ninety percent of the OTC lubes available are made with chemicals designed first for cars or oven cleaner” explains one veteran and founder of Bonk Lube – a New Zealand company dedicated to making certified organic lubricants. “Many women have severe reactions to these ingredients and believe the problem is with them and not the products they are using.”

You should know that non-organic lubes commonly use glycerin and glucose. These two nasties are effectively a type of sugar that can cause a yeast infection quicker than you can say “Again! Again!” – And not just in women, men can also fall victim to this uncomfortable reaction.

We also know that through something called dermal absorption, depending on things like concentration, molecular weight, duration, solubility, etc, etc, we can absorb a myriad of substances into our bloodstream via our skin. You’d need to be a scientist to decipher an ingredients list to know whether a product is safe or not.

It’s not just that untested or harmful products are still ubiquitous in some personal hygiene products. Your skin can absorb these toxins up to eight times faster than if you’d ingested that compound orally.

Compounds to avoid include, but are not limited to the following: Any benzene derivatives such as sodium benzoate, methyl, ethyl and propylparaben, and benzoate of soda. Boric acid, salicylates and cinnamic aldehyde (an ingredient used in ‘hot’ lubricants) can also be problematic.

Bonk oil-based and water-based lubricants contain none of these ingredients and are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.

Organic lube is superior

For us, it’s a no brainer that you should only want to use natural organic products on your skin and the reason is obvious. We use only all-natural organic ingredients because it is better for your health. So, when it comes to selecting your best sex toy, the choice is easy – with bonk lube’s water-based and oil-based natural organic personal lubricants you can spice up those intimate moments with peace of mind it’s good on you and for you.

“Sex with lube is good for everyone. That’s lube’s entire purpose. It is solely to make sex feel even better for anyone who pops the top and applies. Lube can also be helpful, sometimes necessary, and there is no shame in using it. We have to start creating an open forum around all things sex. There is nothing wrong with sex. There is nothing wrong with you. And there is nothing wrong with using lube. So get out there – and start bonking!”
